If you are having your breast implants removed and replaced for whatever reason, Dr. Varkony and the friendly staff at the Plastic Surgery Center, will work with you to tailor an operation that will help you attain your goals. You can have surgery in the morning and be back home or in your hotel room in the afternoon. An overnight stay in a post- operative nursing facility or a private nurse in your home or hotel room for the first day can be arranged if desired. Because we usually use an existing pocket for the replacing your breast implants, there is very little discomfort and most women are back at work in 3-4 days.
For women who have pain or tenderness associated with breast implant hardening or capsular contracture, medical insurance will frequently cover a part of the cost of surgery.

Another important consideration is scarring. Those women who have had bad scarring from multiple previous operations can frequently benefit from our multi- pronged approach of scar reduction through the use of lasers, injections and applications to reduce the appearance of scars already present and to prevent the development of unattractive scarring post- operatively.
Most of our patients are opting to have their breast implants replaced with silicone gel breast implants. For women with thin skin, rippling with previous implants, previous breast implant hardening, etc., they may offer a better solution. After many years, the Food and Drug Administration has re-released silicone gel breast implants onto the general market. Several large medical studies, including one mandated by the FDA in which Dr. Varkony was an investigator, have shown silicone gel implants to be safe. Be sure to ask us about this as well as about saline implants, which are also still available, when you come in for your consultation. Either way, we use only smooth implants to give you the most natural, beautiful results possible.
