VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance. Unlike other devices that remove fat mechanically with a cannula, VASER ultrasound liposuction enables the removal of body fat with the power of sound waves.
The device has become popular largely because of its ability to remove fat very thoroughly in what we call high-definition liposculpting. Removing fat for a BBL, however, differs from other types of liposuction in that the fat is harvested, rather than simply being removed and fat cells must remain viable to be injected back into the body. At lower settings, VASER ultrasound liposuction can gather a greater number of fat cells that stay bonded with the necessary attachments. The procedure therefore enables more slender patients to get BBL’s when they otherwise might not have enough excess fat.
Apart from being able to obtain a larger amount of viable fat, the use of VASER technology has other benefits. It is associated with shorter recovery times and less post-operative discomfort compared to other forms of liposuction. Finally, there is research indicating that the use of high-definition liposuction for BBL’s might be preferable for successful weight loss patients.2
Dr. Varkony is a renowned innovator who is always up to date on the latest best practices. In particular, he is a leader in reducing visible scarring to an absolute minimum. Also, instead of using a syringe to inject fat into the buttocks, he sculpts the patient’s buttocks with greater precision and safety using this technology.
Good candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift should be in good health and have enough excess fat stores to transfer to the buttocks. The use of VASER ultrasound liposuction, however, means that this is a problem for fewer patients. If you are unsure whether the procedure is available to you, the way to be sure is to set up an appointment with Dr. Varkony.
Importantly, prospective patients should also have realistic expectations regarding results, as outcomes may vary for every individual.
Patients will need to avoid applying direct pressure on their buttocks for at least the first two weeks following surgery. Normal sitting can usually resume after approximately eight weeks. Additionally, patients may experience some soreness and swelling which can usually be managed with Tylenol.
