Do you catch yourself constantly worrying about whether you look tired, sad or grumpy all the time? Or maybe you’re itching to remove the excess skin or fatty tissue hanging over your eyes? A brow lift or forehead lift reverses the effects of gravity and tightens the soft tissues of the forehead to restore a more youthful contour to your forehead skin, upper eyelids and eyebrows. There are various brow-lift methods, which involve different length incisions in different locations and, sometimes, an endoscope. A youthful brow at rest is positioned above the orbital rim, with a gradual arch laterally, and the later end of “tail” of the brow located higher than the median end. As we age, it is common for the brow to assume a flat or horizontal position. If a sagging brow inhibits your facial expression, a brow lift is a time-tested method for rejuvenating the upper third of your face. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful brow lift surgery and are pleased with the results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Am I a good candidate for a Brow Lift?
If you are in good general health, are tired of brow sag, able to stop taking any blood thinning medications for up to two weeks prior to surgery, you are most likely a good candidate for brow lift.
How do I know if the Brow Lift will target my main concern?
There are many procedures that can be done to rejuvenate the face. Most of the time, these procedures are done simultaneous. However, they all target different areas of the face:
- Brow lift: improves the forehead and above the eyebrows
- Blepharoplasty: improves the orbital area, around the eyes from the cheekbone to the brow bone
- Facelift: improves the mid to lower face, from cheekbone to chin and jawline
- Neck lift: improves the neck, from chin to collar bone
During your complimentary consultation with Dr. Varkony, he will discuss your concerns and help you decide what will help you achieve your desired results.
Can I have other procedures done at the same time?
You can. Doing multiple procedures on the same day does not lengthen the recovery time, and it allows the patient to accomplish many goals with one surgery.
Do I need to see my own doctor before surgery?
Yes, all patients require basic lab tests, medical clearance, and history & physical from their primary care physician prior to surgery. If the patient is over the age of 45 we require an EKG, along with the standard testing.
Where does the surgery take place?
Procedures are done in our fully certified out-patient surgical center, along with board-certified anesthesiologists, and certified registered nurses.
What kind of anesthetic will be used?
For almost all cases, general anesthesia can be used, which means you will be completely asleep and pain-free during the entire case. Some other patients, having shorter procedures, can have lighter sedation. However, everyone will be completely comfortable during the procedure.
Will I need someone caring for me after the procedure?
Yes. It is very important to have a family member, friend, or medical professional care for you during the first couple days following your procedure.
How long does the procedure take?
The duration of surgery depends on the type of brow lift as well as whether another procedure is being performed at the same time.
How long is the recovery time?
Initial wound healing may take 10 to 14 days and you should be ready to return to work and normal activity afterwards, pending the doctor’s approval.
Is there any pain?
You might experience some tightness around the forehead and eyes, but any discomfort is well controlled with prescribed medications.
Will I have scars?
The scars are well hidden and are usually only noticeable by the patient.
How long do the results last?
Brow lift surgery provides long-lasting correction and the results will last for years. However, it cannot stop the natural aging process. Your rejuvenated appearance will age naturally after the procedure.
